He remembered that he need to always brings along a small booklet directory listing ingredients that are considered halal and non-halal by the Islamic community there. The list was not comprehensive and are usually not updated. But, the booklet has served him greatly during he study period at the UK.
When he come back to Malaysia, he was glad that he can eat almost everything that is available in the supermarkets, hypermarkets or franchise restaurants from oversea. This is because Malaysia government enforced the policy that all foods that are t be marketed in Malaysia must have the local halal authority, named JAKIM.
Deep in his heart, he feels sorry for the rest of the Muslim in the world that live in non-Muslim countries. Every time, he want to go to oversea he will try to search the Internet to see what halal foods or restaurants that are available in that area/. However, the is no website that can provide those information. Some of the website is really cater for that particular country or region of the country, with some of the data been static and not been updated for some time.
He believe that 1.8 billion Muslim all over the world will gain a lot of benefits if a website that is accessible 24 x7 and contains all the information about halal products in other countries. With a dynamic website, in which all people around the world are able to add the information and keep the directory as updated as possible.
